Betsy Hammer has been dubbed

"The Singing Actress."

Betsy Hammer is an experienced and passionate Vocal Coach

offering in-person and virtual singing lessons and vocal coaching

in the Los Angeles, California area.

With more than 20 years of experience working in Hollywood and classical training from the Ohio University School of Music, as well as The Cleveland Institute of Music, Betsy has been using her passion, talent, and knowledge to coach vocalists for over 25 years.

During her college years, Betsy was inducted into the Music Honor Society Sigma Alpha Iota. She was awarded a full Classical Voice Recital, and the Mary Blayney Award, the highest honor for a Music Education Vocal Major graduate. She played leading roles in the Ohio University Opera, and was one of three Lyric Sopranos chosen to sing for Metropolitan Opera tenor John McCollum. 
 

Betsy has studied and sung in seven languages - Italian, French, German, Spanish, English, Hebrew, Yiddish, and American Sign Language (ASL).  After graduation, she was enrolled in the Masters of Voice program at the Cleveland Institute of Music and studied voice for two years with esteemed Professor George Vassos. 

 

Though trained Classically, Betsy is presently a Pop recording artist on RSM Records, based in Hawaii. She loves singing and coaching Pop music, and works with other genres like Musical Theatre, the Blues, Rock, Classical, and Country. 

 
As a SAG-AFTRA and Equity actress, Betsy loves to share her knowledge of professional happenings in the entertainment industry. Expressive, artistic acting techniques are put into action with her wonderfully talented students. As a Pro Member of NSAI, she also incorporates creativity, songwriting, improv skills, and lyrical understanding, bringing insightful interpretations to her students in their respective musical genres.

In her early years of vocal coaching, Betsy served as Music
Director for the Athens Children's Theatre in Athens, Ohio, and
the Director of Elementary Choruses for the Shaker Heights 
School System in Shaker Heights, Ohio.

She later went on to coach singers in movies such as Dickie Roberts: Former Child Star, Adam Sandler's Eight Crazy Nights, Zookeeper, and more. She's coached singers for shows such as Saturday Night Live, America's Got Talent, The X Factor, Nickelodeon’s The Fresh Beat Band, and more.

Through her years of coaching, Betsy has had the privilege to coach celebrities such as Cher, Jennifer Hudson, Sylvester Stallone,

Lance Bass, Florence Henderson, Marion Ross, Jared Sandler,

and Jon Favreau to name a few!
